Social Studies 10: Jan. 31st

 Here are the learning goals for today plus the links to videos we watched.

By the end of this lesson, students will be able to: 

  • explain the importance of diversity and pluralism; how are they different

  • identify the key factors that shape their identities; 

  • analyze challenges of living in a pluralistic society and possible solutions re: we are going next class).

You should have created a set of notes from your group/board work on the back of your identity chart or on a separate sheet of paper.

We looked at the political spectrum, right vs left, progress vs. conservatism.  We put the major ideologies on the spectrum, defined some of the political ideologies (communism, fascism, socialism, capitalism)

Here is the pluralism dilemma we worked through today:

"Pluralistic societies contain many  different people with many different perspectives. What challenges do you think living  in a pluralistic society might create for constructive discussions with one another?”
